PSA SecretaryTheresa FurrowSecretary@PSAK9.org Theresa “Tree” Furrow is the current PSA Secretary/den mother ☺ and is married to Rick Furrow, the East Coast Director. Tree has been with PSA since its inception; however, she only became secretary, in 2006, after the previous secretary stepped down. Tree has never competed in PSA, but is constantly amazed as to what a K9 can be trained to do. Dogs have always been pets to Tree. Her first “best friend,” as a child, was a Saint Bernard/Lab mix named Gentle Ben. As an adult, she fell in love with Rottweilers. Her first was a 125-lb male named Zeus. Everyone always laughed at her when she showed up to training, in a Geo Storm, with Zeus hanging out in the backseat. Shortly after Zeus, Venus joined their family. They were Tree’s faithful companions for many years and saw her through a lot of bad times. Currently, and going in a completely opposite direction, size-wise, Tree is owned by a Dachshund, named Diesel (at least he has the same coloring, right? ☺). Rick brought Diesel home with him, in his sweatshirt pocket, on Christmas Eve 2009. While not working on PSA stuff, Tree is “Mom” to Dillon, who is 4.5 years old, and Sydnee, who is 3. She has been married to Rick for 8.5 years. Her full-time job is as a Senior Cardiovascular Radiologic Technologist at the University of Maryland Pediatric Heart Program, where she assists physicians, in a cardiac-cath lab, with the diagnosis and treatment of children who have born with heart disease. The Department is currently designing a state of the art Cardiac Hybrid Cath lab/OR that will greatly improve the quality of care they are able to provide for Maryland’s children. Although nothing fancy, that is the short and sweet bio on Tree, without whom PSA would not be the same. |
Regional DirectorRick FurrowEC_Regional_Director@PSAK9.org Rick Furrow is the current East Coast Director for PSA. He initially started training Labrador Retrievers, for duck hunting, at the age of 16. In 1998, he purchased his first Belgian Malinois, Tagius, and began decoying at Capital Cities K-9. However, personality conflicts led him to branch out on his own. He has been with PSA from its inception, in 2001, and is one of the original 3 decoys that set the standard for decoying in the sport. His decoying accomplishments speak for themselves: he was the National Decoy Select 2001– 2007. He has travelled across the country both decoying and competing for the sport since its inception. He has titled several tough dogs over the years and is not known to handle the easy ones. He prefers the “headaches” and loves the challenges they bring. Two of the toughest dogs he has titled and the two that taught him the most were a 65-pound Belgian Malinois, named Racky; and a 90-pound Belgian Malinois, named Ares van Boekhout Akker. Racky was a crazy, handler-aggressive dog that was thought to be “untitleable,” but Rick managed to get a PSA 1 with him. Ares van Boekhout Akker is an extreme dog in all areas and titling him was an accomlishment. Rick and Ares earned the High in Trial and High Owner Trained Awards in Plant City, Florida, in 2003, and did well at the 2002 Nationals before attempting the PSA Level 2. Rick still owns Ares, now 10, but he is currently just a breeding dog who enjoys his retirement. Rick has trained many dogs and breeds, over time, including Dutch Shepherds and a Donovan Pinscher, named BamBam. He also trialed in the Level 2’s with K9 Reno. He is currently training a black Malinois, Yaro, that is co-owned by Dave Pappalardo of K9 Unlimited. Yaro is turning out to be Rick’s typical “headache” dog. Prior to PSA’s inception, Rick decoyed in K-9 ProSports (K9PS) and competed in PPDA , K9PS, and various other surprise-scenario trials. Rick is also a PSA certified judge, although his love will always be decoying. When asked about decoying, Rick says the following, “I take great pride in my decoying abilities and reputation. I love catching dogs and helping to train the new generation of PSA decoys at decoy camps and hope to continue to do so. I find the most challenge and greatest rush in catching the “hard dogs” of dog sports - the Ricardo’s, Reno’s, Rocky’s, Porter’s and Diablo’s , just to name a few.” Rick’s most recent accomplishment has been being named as the East Coast Director. As the East Coast director he hopes to help PSA grow on the East Coast. Although PSA has had many “bumps in the road” he hopes to put that in the past and move forward. He hopes to bring in new members and restore faith to the old members. He believes in listening to the members and trying to accommodate their thoughts and visions for the sport. He hopes he can give the members in the East a “voice” by keeping an open mind and doing all he can to see the ideas that will benefit the sport become reality. Rick believes many people possess different ideas of what they think the PSA should be. However, he believes personal differences should be put aside and everyone should come together with a common goal in mind: The success of PSA. He believes that if people train their dogs, come out and compete in the sport, then PSA will grow and flourish. |

Greg WilliamsEC_Assistant_Director1@PSAK9.org A graduate of Capital Cities K9 Academy, Greg has been involved in dog training for about 12 years. During this time, Greg has competed in various protection dog sports with multiple first place wins, as well as titles in both obedience and protection. Greg was the Training Director for Capital Cities K9 Protection Dog Club, as well as their Head Trainer and Head Decoy. This experience has given Greg the hands on experience needed to fully understand dog behavior and training. Currently, Greg Williams is the CEO/ Training Director of Metropolitan K9, LLC, Consultant for Dog Behavior problems and Police dog programs, and Training Director for Metropolitan K-9 Working Dog Club. Involved with PSA since its inception, Greg is one of the original certified PSA Decoys, and is now also a PSA Judge. He is also an active competitor in the sport, and has titled more dogs in PSA than any other person. He was recently named the East Coast Co-Assistant Director. Morris "Moe" LindeseyEC_Assistant_Director2@PSAK9.org Morris "Moe" Lindesey has been training dogs for many years; however, he started competing in PSA during the 2009-2010 season. During that year, Moe achieved many things with his female Dutch Shepherd, Phoenix. In fact, they earned their PDC, PSA1, and PSA2 titles and were the East Coast Regional Level 2 Champions. They started their journey in the Level 3's at the 2010 PSA National event. Moe has been training obedience with Canine Obedience Unlimited at the Greenbriar Pet Resort in Frederick, MD and still trains protection with Fenrir K9. After being instrumental in bringing PSA back to the southeast and Canada, Rick Furrow asked Moe to be an Assistant Director for the East Coast so that he could continue getting people excited about PSA. His goals are to grow PSA even more on the east coast in the coming years. |
